Volunteer Court Advocate

Long-time volunteer of SPAN, Marita Hoeh, spends 4-hours each week at Boulder Court as a Volunteer Court Advocate. Marita has witnessed the tremendous damage domestic violence can cause and is passionate about supporting survivors in their journey towards safety. As a Court Advocate, Marita aids clients in understanding the Civil Protection Order process. She provides information on Temporary Protection Orders and the paperwork filing process, accompanies clients to court hearings for emotional support, and connects clients with other SPAN services and community resources.

ivil Protection Orders can provide physical and emotional relief for survivors, while also being an intimidating process. Volunteer Court Advocates are an invaluable resource for navigating the legal system and we are grateful for their incredible work. “For me, volunteering is self-care. Caring for others, for the people I love and for the people I don’t know. It brings me joy to make even the tiniest difference to survivors in our community,” Marita Hoeh.
